Couch Disposal Plus is the online couch-removal platform from LoadUp Technologies. We built it because getting rid of an old couch used to require three phone calls, a Saturday-afternoon visit from a salesman, an in-home estimate, and a surprise upcharge at the door. None of that should be necessary in 2026.

Why we built it

Junk removal was broken.

Most furniture removal in the United States runs through a legacy model: a customer calls a phone number, sits through a sales pitch, schedules an in-home visit, gets quoted a number that doesn't account for the actual labor, and then negotiates again at the door when "the truck wasn't full" or "this is heavier than expected" or "the stairs add another fifty dollars."

It was the kind of category that software hadn't touched yet — and the kind of category that punishes everyone in it. Customers paid more than they thought they would. Honest local haulers couldn't compete with national chains running aggressive sales tactics. Donation partners couldn't get reliable inventory because the dispatch logic ran through callbacks instead of routing.

LoadUp Technologies launched in 2014 to fix it. Pricing online. Booking online. Routing decided by software, not by a sales rep. Couch Disposal Plus is the focused expression of that platform for the category that drove the most search demand: the old couch in the living room that nobody knows how to get rid of.

What the platform does

Online infrastructure for a logistics problem.

Pricing & booking

Real-time pricing keyed on ZIP, item type, and floor access. Online booking that takes three minutes instead of three phone calls. The price the customer sees is the price they pay.

Loader network

Independent local Loaders — background-checked, insured contractors who operate their own businesses and accept jobs through the platform. Customer reviews follow them and influence which jobs they're offered.

Partner routing

Items in donatable condition are routed to local 501(c)(3) partners — Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Salvation Army, Furniture Bank affiliates, Goodwill. The Loader knows the local partner schedules; the customer doesn't have to coordinate anything.

Customer support

One platform handles booking changes, rescheduling, refunds, and complaints — independent of which Loader picks up the job. The platform is responsible for the customer experience; the Loader is responsible for the pickup.
